FAMILY FUN FRIDAY! Indoor S'mores

This week our Family Fun Friday is YUMMY!
Our kids love s'mores. We use briquettes in our BBQ, so on the nights we grill, the kids love to roast marshmallows once the coals start to cool. Last week the kids wanted s'mores in the middle of the day and I didn't want to fire up the BBQ just for a few marshmallows. Plus it was really hot. We needed something to do, so we made our own Indoor S'mores. Even our 2 year old was able to participate. This is a great activity for families, and it has a built in dessert. The greatest part is that you probably have all the ingredients in your pantry right now.

WHAT YOU NEED
The same ingredients you would need if you were making them outside.
Chocolate Chips
Large Marshmallows
Graham Crackers
Sticks
We just used old chopsticks, you could use forks, skewers, lollipop sticks, anything.

Side note: See those marshmallows, the big ones in the back. They are the coolest and best marshmallows EVER!
They are huge compared to the regular marshmallows. See?

They come in a bag that looks like this....

When you bring them home your kids will think you are super mom!
Check your grocery stores.

To start, Take your graham crackers and crush them up really fine. I let our kids do this. We put the graham crackers in a ziplock and the kids use a rolling pin to crush them "good."

Once they are crushed, poor them into a bowl.

Next, put your chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Put them in the microwave for 1minute and 30seconds.
After 30 seconds they will start to melt. Take them out and stir.

You know the drill. Give them another 30 seconds stir again.

Before you know it, melted and ready to go.

Next, skewer your marshmallow.
And dip!

Lastly, roll your dipped marshmallow in the crushed graham crackers.

There you have it.

A YUMMY FAMILY FUN FRIDAY!
My husband just ate 10 of them. "These are really good, your best idea ever" he says.
I begged, but he won't let me take his picture eating one.

WHAT DO YOU THINK, WILL YOUR KIDS GO FOR THESE?
Have a great weekend. Make some s'mores. Enjoy the 4th.

P.S. Be sure you enter the giveaway from juliethefish designs.

  1. These sound good (and look super easy!) but I would probably heat the marhsmallows in the microwave or over the stovetop first since I'm not a huge fan of uncooked marshmallows.

I've also made them indoors using the microwave or stovetop if you like the regular type s'mores.

  3. Yummy! I just bought some of the toasted coconut marshmallows to roast over the fire; but I might have to do this with them first:)

  4. Natasha, I am not a huge fan of uncooked, either. Unless they are little marshmallows and they are a little stale. Surprisingly though, I can totally eat these.

Just goes to show that chocolate and graham crackers can do a lot.

  6. Amanda, the toasted coconut ones would taste great. If you didn't have those you could also roll the chocolate dipped in coconut AND graham crackers. Yum Oh!
