One time we were in line to check out at the grocery store. He insisted I talk to him like a puppy dog, with barks and panting. I hesitated, embarrassed by the request. He kept insisting, and I gave in, quietly. The lady behind me in line leaned forward and told me I had done the right thing. She told me that the days would pass all to quickly and in 20 years I would wish I could bark like a dog with him again.
At the time it was hard to believe her, but I can already see that she was right, and he is only 10.
All of our kids seem to go through these same phases. In fact our 4 year old told me just yesterday that she wants a pet elephant for her birthday. I told her I would see what I could do. :)
If your kids are like ours and LOVE animals, you must check out the new One Life Movie that is premiering this week. Finding movies that I am comfortable with our kids watching is always a challenge, making this new movie even better. I don't have to worry about the content or language. Just good clean family entertainment and learning.
One Life opens February 21, 2013 in over 450 theaters across the nation. This will be a limited engagement, so be sure you don't miss out.
The movie is narrated by Daniel Craig, who plays James Bond in Casino Royal. It is the first time he has done a documentary feature.
Even more impressive, the movie took more than 4 years to make and was filmed over 3000 days across every continent in every habitat.
Our kids can't wait!
Take a minute to show your kids the trailer. They will love it.
p.s. this movie is getting a ton of attention for all of it's "firsts." The "heat run", with 3 cheetahs hunting co-operatively (they generally hunt independently) and the first use of a new camera tracking system called "yogi cam" to track the elephants, just to name a few.
